Abstract

This article explores the interpretations that emerged after the April 2007 strike in which Neuquén teacher Carlos Fuentealba is assassinated by police. Immediately  the first impressions of what happened begins to be published in articles, brochures and books. We argue that these writings seek to narrate but also mark the beginning of a struggle for the interpretation of the facts that impacts recent Neuquén history, especially in the case of the reading that highlights Neuquén as a territory of an unfolding tradition of social struggles. In this sense, we seek to establish possible axes of those interpretations, supporting as hypothesis that these texts, both those that come from the militant and union field and those of the academic field, would expose struggles within a political protest culture that explains, in the form of the interpretation, its own reflexivity.
