Abstract

The carretilleros or "diableros" are currently the main form of internal transfer of cargo and goods, one of the largest markets in the world, "Central de Basto".

Their predecessors the Tamemes were the ones who carried on their back the loads that could be people, tributes, articles for commerce, etc., in America. The word Tameme comes from Nahuatl tlamama, which means to carry. In Honduras and Mexico, it is directly related to people dedicated to loading.
