The objective of this article is to analyze the migration of Mexican graduates in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to the United States, as well as to investigate their employment patterns in that country, from the perspective of the so-called knowledge economy. The source of information used is the National Survey of University Graduates of the National Science Foundation (National Science Foundation), created among the university graduate population that is up to 75 years of age and is based in the United States. The results of the study show an increase in the volume of Mexican migrants trained in these areas of knowledge, due to motivations related to job search, family reasons and vocational training, as well as the existence of an increasing demand for skilled labor among US companies immersed in the knowledge economy. However, they are not exempt from being involved in problems related to unemployment, underemployment and underutilization of skills.
