Abstract

This text summarizes the presentation of the book Periferias Sagradas en la modernidad argentina held in early December 2019 at the Fondo de Cultura Económica bookstore in Buenos Aires. It began with a general introduction by Dr. César Ceriani Cernadas -co-author of the book's introduction- on the origin of this work, the context of the anthropology of religion research group in which it emerged, and the path of the concepts that were developed throughout the field research. Dr. Joaquin Algranti was in charge of the presentation and analysis of the book itself, and the dialogue he established between his own sociological thinking on religious studies and the conceptual perspectives of the book and its ethnographic materials. Finally, the editor of the book, Dr. Pablo Wright presented the plan for the continuation of this exploration of sacred peripheries not only in Argentina but also in a comparative regional perspective.
