The conditioning elements to carry on the agricultural occupation: notes from Brazilian and international studies

This study aims to point out the conditioning factors that influence young people to remain in rural areas as successors. To that, articles were selected from the Scopus database (Elsevier) and from the CAPES / MEC Journal published in the last five years. In total, ten articles from six countries were identified. Among the main findings, it was identified that age and gender, behavior of the farmer, inheritance and rural succession, identification with the rural environment, as well as the physical and financial capital of the property and the social, cultural and economic conjuncture provided by the urban environment are the main elements that compromise or guarantee the continuity of rural properties through succession in both the national and international context.
