Child nourishment as a determinant of health in rural households of Nuevo Leon, Mexico. A study from the experience sociology

On this paper are addressed the first interpretations of the initial findings from the field work done for the thesis "child nourishment experiences in rural households of Nuevo Leon", this work is part of the project "social determinants of health on rural households of Nuevo León". The theory that initially was supposed to be used to analyze the investigation is confronted with the actual elements found until now, new perspectives are included in order to comprehend the complexity of the eating behaviour on rural spaces. The sociodemographic characteristics of the interviewed women are presented, just like the first category scheme used to analyze the early findings. Later, some of the elements found are discussed through theories that emphasize the chemical food modifications and its consequences on the human body, as well as the possible dependency that they could cause, this perspective is coupled with theories that highlight on the structural determinants of the food consumption hence, the key elements to understand the population health illness continuum. Afterward, some of the fragments from the interviews with women are showed, finally this paper is concluded drawing attention to the crucial need of understanding the complexity of the child nourishment and the way it directly impacts their present and future development.References
